1.1.8 Adding a New Journal/Blog

Journals

In Version 5, blogs are called Journals. To add them is the same process as adding a page, however there are some settings you may want to look at and check when you create the blog.

Go here to see instructions on how to add a page, but instead select Journal instead of HTML.

Journal Settings

As you scroll down, you will see there are many more options to play with than creating a standard Page. Depending on the type of business you run may want to turn certain features off or on. Below is what we recommend as a good base. If you want further help, let us know via our Support page.

Post Display Configuration

You can drag and drop the different elements around to customise how your journal will appear. You may not want the date or the author on each entry for example, if you are creating a set of static pages that you won't be adding to often.

It's usually a good idea to have the Email Article, Share Article and Print Article on your journals for viewers to share easily.

Presentation Options

These settings are usually left as they are for most journals, unless you don't want people to be able to comment at all on the journal. In this case, simply uncheck the "Enable Comments by Default" option at the top.

Pagination Formatting

These options are left as is. If you alter them by mistake, let us know via our Support and we can restore them to their original state.

Commenting / Permission Options

If you have comments disabled, you can skip over this section.

We advise that you open the first drop down and change it to "Comments by anonymous users must be editor approved". This is to circumvent spammers, but if you have frequent commenters, it can also catch rude or discriminatory comments. You will have to login to moderate the comments.

XML Syndication / iTunes Options

These options are left as is. If you alter them by mistake, let us know via our Support and we can restore them to their original state.

Post by Email Options

If you don't want to login each time you want to post, you can send an email in instead. Check this option and more details will appear, including the email you need to send to. It is set to automatically publish your posts, but if you wish to manually go in and check them before posting, you can uncheck that option. This can be handy if you write up a post while you're out and about, but want to double check facts or spelling.

XML-RPC Ping Options

These options are left as is. If you alter them by mistake, let us know via our Support and we can restore them to their original state.

Advanced Options & Style Override

These options are left as is. If you alter them by mistake, let us know via our Support and we can restore them to their original state.
